This year, York’s Golden Key executive officers at York University nominated professors who, they felt, contributed positively to school life and their community- for me that person is Uzo! As an Intern for both ACT and NOISE, I have had many opportunities to work with Uzo- and it has been an amazing experience.

The Golden Key International Honour Society is one of the largest honour societies in the world. Founded in 1977 in Atlanta by Jim Lewis, the organization praises and rewards high achieving individuals for their merits and accomplishments. Dr. Uzo Anucha, the spearhead of the Assets Coming Together for Youth program, and the subsequent New Opportunities for Innovative Student Engagement program, has been recognized by the organization for her success in improving communities through academics, service and leadership. For her efforts, on November 22, 2013 Dr. Anucha was inducted into the society as an honourary member at Golden Key’s New Member Recognition Event (hey guess what-other honourary members include Bill Clinton, Desmond Tutu and Elie Wiesel!!). Congratulations Uzo!
