Do you see me for me?
Or do you only see my outer
Exterior?
Do you see all of the pain, the hurt, the soul-shattering sadness that’s
Within me?
Or do you only see the smile that
I put on.
To fool you,
To make you think,
That I’m okay.
To make you think that I’m always
Happy.
Joyful.
Positive.
When I ‘m really,
Sad.
Depressed.
Negative.
You think of the old saying
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”
But what you don’t know is that
WORDS
DO
HURT!
They hurt more than people think.
WORDS
HAVE
POWER!
Power that can build people as well as break them.
Words that get thrown around
Like toys that children play with.
Words like:
Fag
Queer
Gay
Do you see how much
These words hurt
Me?
You?
Everyone else?
Those are the words that lead to violence, hate, murder, suicide,
DEATH!
Death brought on by those people
Who think that being gay is
Wrong
Disgusting
Strange
Not normal!
Well,
WHAT THE HECK IS NORMAL?!
Normal is whatever
I want it to be.
And I want it to be HAPPY!!!!

I may not be a cutter of skin, but I still have scars!
Scars from all of the cuts that were made by hateful words.
Words that have haunted me for
Years.
Years that I push away, into the back of my mind.
Away to the deepest part of the very far back,
Where even I do not dare to go.
And the only way that I can see them is in my dreams.
Dreams from which I wake
Screaming
Crying
Praying not to fall asleep
Again
And again
Praying that I do not see the
Pain
See the
Suffering
Feel all of the hurt
From all of the kids that didn’t want me to play with them,
Sit with them,
Eat with them,
BE
WITH
THEM!!!
Why not?
WHY F***ING NOT!??!!
All of them,
All they think about is who’s popular.
They don’t see
ME
FOR
ME!
